How to be a Creative Writer

Two weeks ago, I got an amazing opportunity to participate in Bandung Creative Writer Festival, an event organized by KPKers (Creative Writers Community).

In this event I learnt how to motivate ourselves to be consistent in producing writings, how to gain ideas for our writings, and many more.

There are three speakers in this event, which are Jumadi Haryadi, who gave tips and trick to easily write something (we even practiced it in the event), Pak Adrie Noor, who has published books abroad, and Pak Ali Muakhir, who has wrote many kids and teenagers books.

Motivation First!

We write because we have motivation to write. What is your writing motivation? What your motivation is will drive you to be a lasted writer or temporary writer.

I Participated in Lokakarya Sertifikasi Insinyur Profesional LSIP

Yesterday I participated in “Lokakarya Sertifikasi Insinyur Profesional LSIP” or Professional Engineers Certification Workshop held by “Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia” (Indonesian Engineers Association) in Jakarta. It was very awesome experience and I will tell you why.

At the beginning my motivation behind participating in this workshop was simply to get certified as professional engineer. Maybe if I get certificate, it will add value to myself. After I participated the workshop, being professional engineer is more than that. Being professional means to always work safely, to continuously improve oneself, and to contribute to the society. I am sure there are more than that, but those three points are what I remembered.

What did I get in Lokakarya Sertifikasi Insinyur Profesional LSIP?

In this lokakarya I got explanation about:

  • Indonesian Law no 11/2014 about engineering
  • Organization structure of Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (Indonesian Engineers Association)
  • Engineer ethics code
  • Professional engineer application form – how to fill the application

Book Review: Little Bets, How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries

Weekend is almost over. So let’s begin new week with new insight. Instead of sharing chemical engineering things which may be quite serious, in this post I want to share you a book I read. The title is Little Bets – How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries by Peter Sims.

I just read second chapter of the book of ten chapters. So I am quite slow at reading. That is because content in second chapter is really amazing. I highlighted most of the chapter and I internalized the chapter. Problem I always face after reading good book is I forget the content or I don’t know how to behave better based on the book. So, here I write it so it will lessen my forgetfulness.

Title about second chapter is The Growth of Mind-SetI kept repeating word “growth”, “grow”, “growing” to myself and I visualized is as growing small tree. This chapter is really important for me. Read More

Ten Tips How to Survive Working at Consultant Company

I’ve been working in two different consultant companies. Totally I’ve been working for almost four years in consultation world. In this post I want to share you some advice on how to survive working at consultant company. The inspiration of this post was from many difficulties I’ve faced.

#1 Working Experiences

The term consultant itself defines everything. When you work at consultant company, so you are “consultant”. You are the place where your client ask about their difficulties. You are also a right place to judge something. It is impossible to do that correctly if you are lack of experience. That is why consultant companies must be reinforced with well-experienced personnel, probably the one with more than ten years working experience in special fields (for example in LNG field, geothermal field, and so on). How if you are fresh graduate or the one with lack experience? I think you should learn from experience ones. It will be better for consultant company to invest in experienced personnel. Read More

Job Description of Project Engineer – My Real Experience (Part 2)

Please check first part of this post to explore my experience as project engineer 😉

I remembered the night when me and my colleagues went to Senoro 5 to show mechanical completion dossiers to our project manager. We brought three dossiers to show him the example. We thought he will be a little happy to check the dossiers and conclude that we are close to ready for gas in. Unfortunately, he didn’t.

At that time, I realized something more important that dossiers. He wanted to see by his own eyes that we’re ready. And dossiers didn’t convince him.

Fortunately, in the end we managed to get all aspects ready for gas in. Read More
