How to make Hyperlink in The Same Current Document in Microsoft Word

The leader of my BFS (Bankable Feasibility Study) project ask me to insert Hyperlink in every attachment I made. That idea did not cross in my mind before and I thought it would be really great. The problem is I don’t know how to insert hyperlink in the same current document in Microsoft Word. Unlike making hyperlink in Microsoft Powerpoint, the current display of hyperlink window in Microsoft Word (especially if you want to make hyperlink in the same document) is a bit different for me. Then, I browsed the tips. This is the copy of the tips I got from office.microsoft.com.

  1. To link to a place in the current document, you can use either heading styles or bookmarks in Word (in my case, I applied heading style then I applied bookmarks. Remember! You can’t type the bookmarks name with space, so use “_” to separate one word with other)
  2. In the current document, do one of the following:
    • Insert a bookmark at the location you want to go to.
    • Apply one of Word’s built-in heading styles to the text at the location you want to go to.
  3. Select the text or object you want to display as the hyperlink.
  4. On the Standard toolbar, click Insert Hyperlink Button image.
  5. Under Link to, click Place in This Document.
  6. In the list, select the heading or bookmark you want to link to.

It is really working! I expand my mind to hyperlink every figure and table on my Microsoft word file (if I have enough time 😉 ).

Plant Layout Consideration

About a week ago my boss asked me something crucial about Plant Conceptual Design and Layout for our bankable feasibility study of ferronickel project. He asked me if I had explained why we chose this part as smelter plant and not on that part, why the gate should be on the west side of the processing plant, and so on. 2012 Business Risk in Metal Industry

I think metal industry is gaining interest this year. At my company, we have at least two project related to metal industry in the last three months. We have proposed one project related to energy conservation in metal industry as well.

I want to show you one example. Based on Market Study published by Brook Hunt (2011), there are at least four new ferronickel project in Indonesia under completion stage.

  • Antam’s ferronickel project at East Halmahera with total cost USD 1.6 billion
  • Nickel-in-matte (15% Ni) of PT Billy International and Jilin HOROC at Konawe region, South-East Sulawesi. Based on this source, the total cost would be USD 6 billion, which consider giant project
  • Ferronickel of PT Inco at Bohodopi, Morowali district, Central Sulawesi with total cost USD 500 million

Energy Potential Scan

About three weeks ago, I got a chance to participate in a seminar explaining The Result of Energy Potential Scan (EPS) in Indonesia. The seminar was held in Sahid Hotel Lippo Cikarang from 09.00 am to 13.30 pm.

The application of EPS in Indonesia was a form of cooperation between Indonesia with Netherland. Energy Potential Scan is an ideal instrument used to analyze the existing energy consumption and to analyze the possibility to conserve energy. In Netherland, energy efficiency has been started since 1990. At 1990, the target was to achieve 20% of energy efficiency within 10 years. The result was even better. Within 10 years, energy efficiency was 23%. As the follow up of this achievement, energy efficiency is applied to every production line.

How to develop Corporate Social Responsibility in Feasibilty Study

Today I got a new job from my BFS leader (Bankable Feasibility Study) in ferronickel project. He asked me to write some important points regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aspect. It is pretty new for me, therefore I need to learn the principles first. I am very lucky because the leader gave me a really good example how to develop CSR. He gave me a handbook titled Social Responsibility in the Mining and Metals sectors in Developing Countries.

The Difference between Pre-feasibility Study and Feasibility Study

In this post I want to share a little my knowledge and understanding regarding the difference between Pre-feasibility study and feasibility study. Most people who are working in business field are more familiar with feasibility study than pre-feasibility study. Actually, the principle of both study are similar. The difference is how deep the analysis will be.

What is pre-feasibility study?

Pre-feasibility study is a preliminary study undertaken to determine, analyze, and select the best business scenarios. In this study, we assume we have more than one business scenarios, then we want to know which one is the best, both technically and financially. In pre-feasibility we select the best idea among several ideas. It will be hard and takes time if we explore each scenario deeply. Therefore, shortcut method deem acceptable in this early stage and can be used to determine minor components of investment and production cost.

Ferronickel is vital importance to modern society. It is because ferronickel is main feedstock in stainless steel production.
